The translation is too modern to be any good.This book, following the modern trend towards "relating to the people" loses all overview of Menander. Upon reading this book, one does not ask himself the age-old question, "Does Menander imitate life, or does life imitate Menander?"

Lightweight in Form and ContentI am surprised to see that this book was published by the J. Paul Getty Museum. The book is based on the first part of "From Pentelicon to the Parthenon" published by Melissa Publishing House in 1995.
I was expecting something similar to the scholarly "Ancient Egyptian Construction and Architecture" by Somers Clarke and R. Engelbach. But I was sadly dissapointed with "The Stones of the Parthenon" which is written in a narrative style and has line drawings suitable for children. It's just a novella describing the passage of one block of stone from the quarry to the Parthenon.
Save your money for "The Athenian Acropolis" by Jeffrey M. Hurwit.

Smaller than expectedWhen you review the specifications of this map you see 8 papes what you are not told is when you unfold the entire map it only measures 8 1/2 by 32 inches.
it only covers " downtown Athens " I was looking for a resturant in the outskirts of Athens hopeing I could find it in this map.

I purchased a map in Athens a few years ago which is more complete.
I wouldn't recommend this map to anyone.
I also purchased a Michelin road map to Greece and it was just as I expected very detailed map
